The “Disco Diva” pattern, by Genniewren Designs, is a fun dance outfit for all your soft-bodied 18” dolls. Both girls and boys will love this funky outfit.
Loosely based on 1970s disco outfits, this bodysuit has hints of Elvis, and the glam rock era too. It is easily customized with stretch trims (e.g. glittery fold over elastic).
The Disco Diva pattern is designed for four-way stretch fabrics only, such as dancewear and swimwear performance fabrics.
The front-fastening bodysuit design has two basic views: View A has an optional rounded collar that can be worn standing up or laid flat, flared sleeve and leg ruffles, and a fabric belt. View B has a square collar, an elasticized lower sleeve, and a split leg ruffle. It is shown with a purchased chain belt. Either view can also be made without the collar if desired. The pattern pieces for the different views can be mixed and matched to create a custom outfit.
Instructions are included for a hook and loop front closure, as well as for two types of zipper (regular or invisible zipper), but a zipper is recommended for authenticity and practicality, as hook and loop tape may damage the foil finishes of some of the shinier dancewear fabrics.
This PDF sewing pattern contains 9 pages of pattern pieces. It has been rated intermediate because it requires four-way stretch fabric. If you are comfortable sewing with stretch fabrics then this pattern is easy to make.
I hope you enjoy making this as much as I enjoyed the designing. It was so much fun to see all the tester versions.
