At the Court of Edward III 18" Doll Clothes Pattern

1 review   |

At the Court of Edward III, King of England and Lord of Ireland, ladies must be perfectly elegant. After all, in the 14th century, the Kingdom of England was the leading military power in Europe... To shine at Court, nothing better than this kirtle with narrow sleeves decorated with tiny buttons and this magnificent cotehardie with sleeves flared and lined, which comes in two lengths. A beads belt can add a touch of elegance to the outfit.
The pattern offers four possibilities for closing at the back for each garment: metal eyelets, handmade eyelets, hook-and-loop strip or zipper (which is not very historic, but which allows children to be independent in the dressing of their dolls!).
The headdress consists of four elements: a barbette, a wimple, a veil and a touret which can be enriched with ribbons and beads. An essential for any well-born lady!

At the Court of Edward III

At an initial glance this pattern looks very intimidating but if you break it down into each section it actually goes together quite easily once you master the techinque of inserting the various gores (actually quite straight forward). With all the options for back closures there is sure to be one that suits your taste and sewing style. The whole thing opens itself to so many possibilities for embellishment

Medieval Elegance

I loved creating an elegant medieval costume, suitable for a princess. It was delightful using this well drafted pattern. Made me want to do further internet research into medieval garments & the time period! This designer often includes crafting instructions for wardrobe components - in this case, a complete headdress & jeweled belt. If working with fancy fabric scares you, you can still create a more rustic outfit for everyday medieval doll wear. Highly recommend trying this one!

Medieval Elegance

I loved creating an elegant medieval costume, suitable for a princess. It was delightful using this well drafted pattern & learning the terminology of all the medieval pieces. Made me want to do further internet research into medieval garments & the time period! This French designer loves to include crafting instructions for wardrobe components that complete the outfit- in this case, a complete headdress & jeweled belt. If working with fancy fabric terrifies you, you can still create a more rustic outfit for everyday medieval doll wear. Highly recommend trying this one if you are an intermediate sewist!
