The Emily nightdress pattern, by Genniewren Designs, is based on a traditional floor length Victorian style nightgown and can be made with or without a ruffle at the hem edge.
The PDF sewing pattern also offers the more modern option of pyjamas, with two styles of PJ bottoms to choose from: traditional full length straight leg pyjama pants, and ruffled bloomers.
The nightgown and pyjama top fasten at the back neck with a button and loop. There is a choice of two sleeve lengths, and the sleeves can be smocked or elasticated at the cuff to control the fullness.
The front of the nightdress or pyjama top can be embellished in several ways including smocking, machine gathering and embroidery, or by sewing on toning or contrasting ribbon.
You could also use different fabrics for the sleeves to add a modern funky look to your nightie or PJs.
Your doll is sure to be the best dressed in the boudoir when she wears her Emily nightdress or PJs.
Please note: The smocked version of this pattern is designed for dressmakers with some knowledge of heirloom techniques and smocking.
Recommended Fabrics: Woven fabrics: cotton lawn, batiste, lightweight poplin, broadcloth, quilter's cotton or polycotton. Pattern pieces and adjustments are provided for thicker fabrics such as flannel, brushed cotton or winceyette.
