A Garibaldi shirt was a woman's fashion named after the Italian patriot Giuseppe Garibaldi who was an Italian folk hero and a nationalist in favor of Italian independence from Austrian domination. It was extremely popular during the first half of the 1860s and it was made in bright red fabrics. Versions in white and lighter fabrics also appeared, and children frequently wore it.
Pattern includes photographic sewing instructions to make a Garibaldi Shirt, Skirt and Belt and all pattern components come in two sizes:
~ Sized to fit 18 inch larger dolls such as American Girl® and
~ Sized to fit the 18" slim Carpatina or Kidz n Cats Dolls
Recommended Fabrics: Light weight woven fabrics, cotton, linen
Supplies Needed:
- 1/3 yard main fabric for shirt (light weight cotton)
- 1/2 yard contrast lace trim for shirt
- 1/3 yard print fabric for skirt
- 5" fabric for belt
- Snaps or buttons for closure
- Matching thread
