Tuscan Winter Set 18" Doll Clothes

5 reviews   |

The Flossie Potter Tuscan Winter Set is based on the Tuscan Lambs Wool Hat, a style that was popular with girls and women from all walks of life in the late 1960s to early 1970s.   A synthetic version made the hat affordable.

The set includes two patterns -- A lined fur hat that surrounds the head with warmth and ties under the neck with balls of fur at the ends of the cords, and another for fur mittens with ribbed cuffs.

This Easy Plus PDF sewing pattern gives you 11 pages of step-by-step instructions with full-color photo illustrations to show you how to make your own Tuscan Winter Set for your 18" doll such as American Girl®.  There are also 2 pages of printable summary instructions (to save on printer ink) and 2 pages of full-size pattern pieces.

The hat and mittens in this pattern will also fit Bitty Baby with no adjustments!

Pair the set with the Flossie Potter "Little '50s Swing Coat" for a really cute winter outfit!

Fun hat and mittens!

My best results for the hat was to use stretch fabric as was indicated in the supply list. I did not have cording for the hat so I braided 6 strands of cotton yarn and made tassels at the end instead of cotton balls. The mittens were so easy! After making an assortment of mittens, I decided I liked them just a little shorter so placed the pattern closer to the ribbing.

Very cute, easy sew.

This went together quickly and easily, and looks adorable. My daughter wanted to use a woven, and I was skeptical about it working, since the directions call for a stretchy fabric, but it worked just fine. the fit is great, and even though our set doesn't have stretch, my 8 year old is able to get it on and and off her doll easily by herself.
