Fashion dolls love wearing dungarees. They’re comfy and stylish all-in-one. This particular pattern offers the Fashion Doll lots of opportunities to explore her fashion sense, while still allowing her to keep up with her daily activities.
The Dress-it-up dungarees pattern, by Karen Lorraine Design, consists of unlined overalls with a front pocket on the bib. The dungarees are designed to be sewn with woven cotton fabric, although you can use a stretch fabric if desired. A denim fabric (with or without stretch) allows for a jean-type look, while a quilting cotton works particularly well in giving the “dungaree drape”.
This pattern is for an intermediate seamstress and contains more features than the pattern "Dungarees”. The new features include a waistband pitched at the natural-waist, which is in keeping with the current trend. Belt loops also make an appearance, and can be used with a belt or as an embellishment alone. Another feature involves areas that can be topstitched, including the stylish topstitching on the legs. There are also functional pockets included, and finally, there is only one strap style in this pattern, which is the clean styled strap.
This PDF pattern is designed to fit 11 ½" Fashion Dolls such as Fashionista Barbie®. As Fashion Dolls vary in size, here are the measurements of Fashionista Barbie® that you may wish to use to compare other dolls with: bust 5 inches, waist 3 ½ inches, and hips 5 1/8 inches.
Recommended Fabrics: Woven cotton fabrics like denim, quilting cotton
Supplies Needed:
• 16" (width) x 11" (height), cotton-woven fabric or 2-way stretch fabric.
• Matching or contrasting thread.
• Snap fasteners, or hook and eye closures.
• Embellishments, such as studs, beads, rivets, adhesive beads (and glue), etc.
• Fray edge product for finishing straps (if desired).
• Lawn (or similar) fabric remnant for pocket facing (optional).
