A popover style shirtdress for your 18 inch doll?  Yes! This on-trend dress, by Liberty Jane, is a fun new addition to our Malibu Libby collection. Stroll along the beach and have lunch at the Coronado Hotel in this cute pullover style shirtdress, which makes the perfect addition to any 18 inch doll's summer wardrobe! The mandarin collar, roll-up sleeves and shirt tail hem add all the right fashion touches! Learn new techniques with confidence. This PDF sewing pattern teaches how to sew a henley style placket, the mandarin collar, and a faced hemline. This doll clothes pattern also includes a shirt length version and a short gathered puff sleeve to give you more great options. The top has an added split hemline at the side seams - it’s all in the details! The sleeve design is interchangeable and can be used for either the top or the dress. The back of the dress is open halfway, while the shirt back is open the entire center back. Both designs can be sewn with a hook and loop tape or snap closure for easy on and off. Instructions are included to sew the front placket with a tiny pointed end or a more simple squared off finish.

Recommended fabrics include: Very lightweight denim (shirt or dress fabric), chambray, tissue weight linen, tencel, challis, and any lightweight cotton.

Cute pattern - one confusing section

I enjoyed how this pattern turned out. The only confusing part was the placket. I feel it could be sewn a different way but I’m not sure how. For the waist, I used elastic thread in the bobbin to give the dress some shape.

Overall, the experience was great, I had ah few hiccups with the placket, where one side hadta be made ah little longer in order for the placket to lay flush against the shirt itself, bt overall ah great pattern, with ah lot of details & possibilities. Thanks

Darling but frustrating!

Love the look of this dress. I color blocked it by making the top of the dress a different color than the bottom. (I used the shirt top and skirt bottom). I have used dozens of Pixie's patterns, but this was the most challenging. I had to go to YOU TUBE for help with the placket--that worked! Right now I'm working on the collar. YIKES! Can't tell the top from the bottom of the collar piece--is it long enough? I've spent hours on this dress redoing and redoing! I WILL get it right eventually! (I hope)! I love a challenge! Woo-hoo!
