Alivia Dress 18" Doll Clothes Pattern

6 reviews   |

This little dress, by Jelly Bean Soup Designs, was made for a sweet little girl named Alivia.  It features a bodice that opens in front that has a sewn-on placket.  Placket could be made of a contrast or the same fabric as the dress.  Trim it with lace or jute as shown on the western look dress.  Shoulders feature a sweet ruffle that is attached above the short sleeve.  The skirt is shown as being pieced from several coordinating fabrics.  However, it can be made from a solid piece of fabric.  This little dress has a ton of possibilities.

Recommended Fabrics: Cotton, Baby Corduroy, old Blue Jeans, etc. The top could be made from cotton or a scrap from an old pair of blue jeans.  Trim such as jute or lace, Several scraps from coordinating fabrics for the skirt.  Border print.

Alivia Dress

Second attempt. I've been sewing for almost 59 years. I am having troubles with the bias, so came back on PF to see if anyone else is having troubles, seem to be the issue with others, plus instruction are not as clear as They should be. Need to put it aside for now.

Alivia Dress

This was a fairly easy sew. I like the design because it is a bit different. I prefer a lined bodice which I did for this dress, but it added complications and I don't think it was necessary.

Cute dress and pattern

I bought this pattern because I liked the gored skirt and placket on the bodice. It also allows for different fabric and trim choices. I've been sewing for 40+ years but found the instructions for adding bias tape at the neckline to finish it difficult to follow; I gave up on the bias tape and created a lining for the bodice instead. I have an older chubby AG Doll, so I added 1/4' to the CB bodice and skirt. Still glad I bought the pattern and will make the dress again.

Not very clear instructions

This is a lovely little dress, but the instructions are not very clear. I’m an accomplished sewer so I managed to work it out for myself, but someone not so experienced might have trouble understanding
