The Cotillion Club Gown is a design reminiscent of the coming-of-age tradition of sending “tween” girls to etiquette training programs, a.k.a. cotillions, to acquire social graces such as table manners and ballroom dancing. This semi-formal dress is typical of the cotillion dress code of the 50s and 60s. Three versions of the dress are included. Choose lined cap sleeves or a sleeveless option with armscye facings. The fitted bodice is framed by a round collar and a pleated cummerbund. The cummerbund has optional hanging tie ends and a purchased or handmade corsage accent. The very full skirt has a deep hem, typical of the era. Just add your favorite accessories and your doll is ready for the Cotillion!
View A - Sheer sleeves and collar, contrasting cummerbund and tie ends with purchased corsage trim
View B - Sleeved, collarless dress with matching cummerbund
View C - Sleeveless, collarless gown with matching or contrasting cummerbund
This pattern is modeled on modern, Mattel brand American Girl® dolls with slimmer bodies. Dart adjustments for fitting a slightly larger doll, such as the older style Pleasant Company dolls, are included in the pattern.
Do you have an embroidery machine? If so, you will certainly want to see the lovely Cotillion Club Embroidery Design Set created especially to go with this dress!
This PDF sewing pattern by FROG Princess Fashions is designed to fit 18" dolls such as American Girl®.
