Jo's Writing Dress is the third pattern in Keeper's Dolly Duds “Little Women” series. This is simple but fashionable dress is free of excess embellishments that might encumber Jo's high-spirited and carefree personality, but includes a few special design details that satisfy her appreciation of beautiful things. The front bodice features a front seam and the fabric is cut at an angle that adds an interesting "V" detail when sewn with striped or plaid fabrics. The dropped sleeves give the shoulders a smooth gentle curve and are crowned with a ruffled sleeve cap that gives it an added touch of femininity. The full sleeves are cut on the bias to give them a soft drape and add another subtle design detail when striped or plaid fabrics are used. The bottom edges of the sleeves are finished with a bias cut trim and fasten with a button and button loop. The Civil War Era silhouette is completed with full calf-length skirting that is pleated in the front and gathered in the back. The dress closes in back with three buttons, but hook and loop tape or snaps can be used, if preferred. Pair this dress with Keeper's Dolly Duds “Hooded Cloak” for a cozy winter ensemble!
