The Paisley, Please! Jacket, by FROG Princess Fashions, is an unlined jacket with a notched lapel that is uniquely pieced with front princess seams, a back yoke, and an all-around hem band featuring the trendy longer length that falls at the hip line. The sleeves feature optional button tabs and the jacket may be fastened with three buttons or tied with a belt. For fun, this little jacket may be constructed of single or multiple fabrics to artfully complete any outfit, whether worn over a blouse or as part of a skirt/pants ensemble.
The single-piece sleeves and the optional patch pockets in addition to the round collar, lapel, back yoke and hem band, all allow for embellishments such as lace, piping, fancy stitching, and machine embroidery for a couture finish.
The custom “Paisley, Please!” machine embroidery design set is sized for a perfect fit on the pattern pieces and is available separately from Frog Princess Fashions on Pixie Faire.
This pattern is designed to fit 18" dolls such as American Girl®.
Suggested Fabrics: linen, twill, medium weight cottons, homespun, denim, corduroy, gabardine, chino, broadcloth, wool. For best results, avoid two-way stretch knits, fabrics that ravel easily, or large plaids; best with woven prints or solids.
Supplies Needed:
Fabric:
- ½ yd of fabric (View A) especially if adding machine embroidery to one fabric
- ¼ yd (or fat quarters) of three fabrics (View B) if you will be piecing the jacket parts
- ⅟3 yd of fabric (View C) if jacket will be constructed from one fabric (fat quarter friendly)
Notions:
- New, sharp size 11/75 or 12/80 needle
- Matching thread
- 3-5 ⅜” buttons (3 for the optional front button closure)
- ½” - 3/4” sliding belt buckle for optional belt closure
Optional:
- Lightweight interfacing for collar and jacket center front (if using lightweight fabric)
- Lace trim or narrow piping
