Dressing for success is quick and easy with this snazzy little two-piece suit, by FROG Princess Fashions. Designed for woven fabrics such as vintage calicos and mini prints, the lined, fitted jacket features princess seams, banded, puffed sleeves, and a shawl collar with front button closure. The jacket curves nicely at the waist, accented by the tie ends that circle around from the front princess seams to button at the center back. For added fashion interest, the sleeve bands, tie ends, and shawl collar can be cut from a contrasting fabric. For a graceful fit on older, fuller dolls or the newer, slimmer ones, the matching tulip skirt features six gores with an elastic waist and a flippy little hem detail.
The entire outfit is set off by the couture briefcase/computer bag/purse designed to be made of matching fabric with pleather/vinyl straps and trim accent. The bag features a zipper closure and an optional shoulder strap. The matching fabric may be quilted, monogrammed, or embroidered for additional charm.

Recommended Fabrics: The two-piece suit is designed for lightweight woven fabrics such as chambray, quilting cottons, or poplins, in solids or vintage florals, mini calicos, polka dots, and ombre designs. (Not suitable for border prints or obvious stripes, checks, or plaids or fabrics with nap.) The briefcase can be made of vinyl, cork fabric, or fashion fabric with vinyl trim.
Supplies Needed:
Fabric
- ¼ yd. woven fashion fabric
- ¼ yd. contrasting woven fabric for shawl collar, sleeve bands, tie ends
- ⅛ yd. lining (lining forms the shawl collar)
- ⅛ yd of light interfacing
- 1 small piece (approximately 12” square) of thin pleather/vinyl/cork fabric for briefcase
- 1 scrap piece of medium weight interfacing (for briefcase)
Notions
- 5 small, flat (3/8”) buttons
- Matching thread
- 11” length of ¼” wide woven elastic
- 9” very lightweight polyester zipper to match fabric (for briefcase)
- New, sharp 75/11 needle and 80/12 needle (or sharp leather needle for vinyl)
- Set of small fabric clips or small clothespins for briefcase cutting and construction
- Optional: scraps of batting to quilt bag body
- Optional: double fold bias tape to match contrasting fabric (for briefcase)
