The Eclectic Closet, by Flossie Potter, will be an ongoing series of patterns that reflect various decades and styles. The idea behind it is that your doll can open her closet and choose pieces at random, but they'll work as an eclectic outfit!
This first pattern in the series will show you how to make the Flounce Blouse with two length options. The shorter length has flounces on the sleeves and hem. The bodice is not fitted but rather is reminiscent of the fuller style from the 1990s. The longer length has sleeve flounces but a straight hem and side slits. It can be worn straight or with a belt. The longer length blouse also can be worn as a beach cover-up, or you can turn it into a shift dress by making the side slits shorter. The pattern includes directions for making a scalloped edge with a lingerie stitch as an optional neckline and flounce trim.
The Quick-n-Easy Faux Front Skirt is the doll version of a popular item from the 1970s. The waistband is plain in the front and has elastic in the back. Make it straight seams or follow the instructions for optional flat-felled seams for an authentic look.
You can pair the skirt with Flossie Potter's 1970s Body Suit pattern, and don't forget to accessorize! Give your doll a pair of Water Buffalo Sandals and a Braided Belt from Flossie Potter's 60s and 70s Accessories pattern and a purse from Flossie Potter's Shoulder Bag and Wallet Set. MIX-n-MATCH, AND HAVE FUN!!
