This pattern bundle includes the Crabapples original Classic Coat & Hat pattern, as well as the new Classic Hats pattern, which offers a total of THREE Classic Coat variations and THREE Classic Hats.
The Classic Coats:
All views of the Classic Coat have princess seams and an inset side bodice.
Views A and B have a full pleat in the front. The back has the same princess seams and side bodice, with a very full pleat in the center. View B has a bow, and View C has a classic belt secured with buttons.
The coats are fully lined, including the sleeves, and the lining has a ruffle on the bottom for fullness.
There are two collar variations. Views A and C have a round collar and instructions are included for sewing with fur. View B has a straight collar, and the top of the coat may be folded back to form lapels.
This bundle has three classic hats to complement your Crabapples Classic Coat or any other favorite outfit for your 18” dolls. All hats are fully lined. The brims are different, giving them completely different looks.
The Classic Hats:
The Cossack style hat is edged with real or faux fur to frame the face of your doll for a warm winter look and the crown has a flat top. Two cloche hats are also included. One has a clever brim that forms a self-made bow at the side and has a rounded crown. The second cloche has a circle crown with side panels and can be trimmed with a bow and optional ribbon band. All hats are sure to become classics in your doll’s wardrobe.

Coat Fabric (All Views):
5/8 yard of any woven fabric such as Wool, Acrylic or Flannel.
If fabric is 54” wide, you will only need 1/2 yard. If using a plaid, you will need to buy 1/8 to 1/4 yard more for matching. Not suitable for knits.
View A 9” x 9” scrap of real or faux fur for collar.
View B 1/4 yard velvet or velveteen for collar.
Tip: If you are having problems finding the perfect fabric, try looking for a lightweight men’s suit at your local thrift store. It makes a really wonderful fabric for this coat and is very economical.
Lining (All Views): ½ yard lightweight woven fabric such as cotton, silk or acetate.
Notions:
Three or Four 7/16” (11mm) or 1/2” (12mm) buttons for all views plus 2 buttons for back belt View A and View C.

Interfacing (All Views): 1/4 yard heavy fusible interfacing for hat brim.
1/4 yard lightweight fusible woven interfacing for coat.
NOTE: The best interfacing is a woven fusible. It works much better than a non-woven.
I like the brand called Shape Flex® by Pellon®.
Cloche Hast:
1/4 yard of any woven fabric such as lightweight wool, acrylic or heavy flannel.
1/3 yard cotton, silk or acetate lining fabric
Cossack Hat:
1/4 yard of any woven fabric such as lightweight wool, acrylic or heavy flannel.
1/4 yard cotton, silk or acetate lining fabric.
