Sorrell Dress 18" Doll Clothes Pattern

8 reviews   |

The Sorrell dress PDF sewing pattern, by Genniewren Designs, designed to fit 18 inch dolls such as American Girl®, will help you create a fabulous modern style dress that every girl will love.

The unlined dropped waist dress with bound neckline has a choice of sleeveless or straight short sleeves, with two skirt options - a single layer skirt and a flared overskirt.

A sewn in “belt” of bias fabric can be used to add a touch of flair to the dress, and instructions are given for making a rosette to add further interest to the dress.

There is plenty of room on the bodice to add machine embroidery or other embellishments, should you so wish.

Mix and match toning or contrasting fabrics to Euro-style this gorgeous little dress. The only limit is your own creativity!

This pattern is designed to fit 18" dolls with up to a 10.5” waist and 12” hips.

Recommended Fabrics:  Suitable for woven fabrics e.g. dress weight cotton, lawn, quilting cottons, chambray, batiste, viscose, taffeta, satin.

Supplies Needed:
-For all versions you will need 9½ inches of anti snag hook and loop tape  for the back fastening or four small snaps or buttons if you prefer not to use hook and loop tape. (You will need extra hook and loop tape if you wish to add the fastening to the underskirt as well as the bodice.)
-View A: (Unlined short sleeved dress with double layer flared skirt and contrast belt). You will need three eighths of a yard of fabric, plus one yard of 1½ inch wide (flat unfolded width) bias binding in a contrast fabric. If you prefer you can cut the bias neck binding from the chambray fabric rather than using the contrast – you will need 9½ inches long by one inch wide (see paragraph 41 for details)
-View B: Unlined sleeveless dress with contrast bound neckline and armholes, single layer skirt, contrast belt and rosette trim). You will need a fat quarter of fabric plus one and a quarter yards of 1½ inch (flat width) bias binding for the belt and binding (or you can use contrast fabric to make the bias trim).
-Lace trims, additional binding for the skirt edges, or rick rack as desired.
