While I’m fairly experienced at making doll clothes, slippery satiny fabrics really scare me! I decided it was time to learn how to work with them, and this was the perfect pattern to start with. The instructions are well written and include lots of tips and ideas. The fit was excellent on my modern American Girl dolls … I did use the back bodice piece sized for hook and eye, but found I had the right amount of overlap for snaps, which I prefer to the hook and eyes. While the dress style is fairly simple, it lends itself to lots of variations … I’ve made two already this week that are both very different, and have several more ideas! I do have to add, though, it’s those adorable gloves that make this dress such a perfect outfit. They are way easier than I expected, and I’ve already gotten 3 pairs done, just because I know I’ll need more for future dresses! Definitely recommend this pattern!
