I had the pleasure to test My Sunshine Dolls' newest pattern, "Harlequin Masquerade." The leotard was made with a performance fabric woven with little glitter flecks. The pattern calls for stretch velvet, but I didn't have that in my stash. I did have a scrap of this black stretch fabric. This is an easy-to-sew leotard. It ties at the top, so no velcro.
When I was testing it, I was so excited to show it off, I paired it with a skirt I had, my own pattern. It's a circle skirt, made with two circles and a casing waistband which encloses 1/4" elastic. It's also a performance knit, and because the fabric didn't fray or run, I could leave the cut edge as the unfinished hem.
But look at the costume skirt that goes with this outfit. It is made with a tulle overlay which is placed to give the skirt fabric design. I count the tulle as a knit, too. Anyone looking for a unique Halloween outfit?
