Inspired by clothing depicted in ancient Egyptian Art, Astarte's Raiment by BramBelles Boutique continues the theme with a pleated and fringed tunic, a decorated Wesekh collar and two styles of belt; a simple handwoven belt or a fabric tie belt.
The tunic is styled in crisp fabrics which show the pleat details. It slips over the head, wraps front and back and is tied in place with the belt. The Wesekh Collar completes the ensemble.
Pair Astarte's Raiment with "Cleopatra's Sandals" and your doll will be stepping back into the ancient past.
This pattern is designed to fit 18-20" dolls such as American Girl®, Australian Girl®, and other similar sized dolls.
This pattern includes 20 pages of illustrated step-by-step instructions, 4 pages of printer friendly instructions and 4 pages of full-size pattern pieces.
Recommended Fabrics:
Linen was traditional, but other fabrics that are light and gauzy and that hold pleats well would also suit, such as linen, handkerchief linen, cambric, voile, muslin, lawn, cheese cloth and similar fabrics. The colour was generally natural, cream or white, however some more recent tomb paintings also show patterned fabrics such as stripes and chevron patterns.
Supplies Needed:
Tunic:
- 30” x 20” pre-shrunk Woven fabric (Linen, cotton, muslin)
Wesekh (Decorative Collar):
- Felt piece in desired colour - 6” x 5.5”
- 3 - 4 assorted braids, lace, sequins, etc. 9” – 15” each
- 2 pieces thin cord or ribbon 5.5” each
- Thread or fabric glue as desired
- Beads or other embellishments as desired
Fabric Tie Belt:
- Strip of Fabric 36” x 1¼” in a plain or geometric patterned fabric.
- Thread to match
Woven Belt:
- 8 strands of worsted yarn each 55” – 60” long.(4 each of 2 colours)
