The gown has a very dramatic open overskirt that sweeps to the back in delicate pleats. It can be made floor length or extra-long. The bodice features a very wide-set squared neckline, slim pointed sleeves, and a lapped asymmetrical front. It features gracefully curving edges and is gently shaped with darts. The skirt is slightly flared and flows into a trained back. This deluxe pattern includes instructions for several seam finishes for neckline & hems: a simple facing, lace edging, binding, piping, and fold-over elastic that are all easy to follow. • 1 Yard Dress Only or 2 Yards Dress & Overskirt – 45” lightweight Wovens such as cotton prints, quilting weight, lace, or special occasion fabrics such as satin. Also Stretch Wovens & Stretchy Knits, 2-way stretch performance fabrics, wovens w/ added spandex, fine wale corduroy, linen-like, silky solids
• 1 1/3 yards for Overskirt in separate fabric -45” fabrics as above plus sheer or lace types
• 1 1/3 Yards of 45” silky lightweight lining fabric (Optional). This includes yardage for Skirt & Overskirt Hem facings
Select Either Facing or Binding Method Below (Only 1 method needed):
Facing– (Optional)
• 1/4 yard or remnant very lightweight cotton or silky lining fabrics for Facing if edges are not bound
Bias– (Optional)
• 3/4 Yards matching or contrast fabric (Cotton, quilting fabrics, satin, and similar lightweight woven fabrics) to create Bias Binding for bodice
Fold-over Elastic– (Optional)
• 1 yard stretch, woven, sheer, or other lightweight fabric. Note: This piece may be layered or lined with different colors & types of fabrics for special effects.
