Your dashing prince will look his best for any royal occasion in this Renaissance costume, from Stitchery by Snowflake. The doublet buttons close in front and have capped sleeves. The round hose, aka “slops,” wide legged pants first worn by sailors, snap closed in the back. For more formal events, your prince may wear “paned” sleeves with “pansied slops,” more commonly called “pumpkin pants.” These panels of fabric, first worn by the Germans, added details that only the wealthy could afford. Tie the panes together at intervals with fancy buttons for a “slash and puff” look favored by King Henry VIII.
