This is a traditional 13th century ladies cap based off of an extant design once worn by Saint Birgitta.
The center seam can be left plain or finished with a bridging stitch called the Saint Birgitta stitch. Detailed instructions for the Saint Birgitta Stitch are included. A third option is to finish the center seam with insertion lace which mimics the look of the Saint Birgitta stitch. The cap is secured to the head by looping the strap twice around the head.

- View A, B, & C Caps ~ 1/4 yard of 45 inch wide fabric

Cap B:
- Eight inches of 1/2” wide insertion lace for the center seam
- 16 1/4” x 5/8” piece of lightweight interfacing for headband

- 1 1/4” x 8” strip of muslin
- 1” wide masking tape
- Six yards of embroidery floss for the center seam and headband
- 16 1/4” x 5/8” piece of lightweight interfacing for headband
