The Philippa skirt, by Genniewren Designs, is a maxi-length, eight-gored skirt with a choice of a fitted, invisible waistband or an elasticized waist.
There are two views: View A is made up of pieced skirt gores featuring three different fabrics; View B is a single fabric skirt gore. The pattern pieces for View A and B can be mixed if desired.
The skirt shape is inspired by the elegance of the Edwardian era, and would work well as part of a historical or steampunk outfit; but it is great for modern girls too. Made in bright cotton prints, the Philippa skirt is the ideal summer or fall outfit. Made from satin, it would be perfect for evening wear or wedding finery.
The fitted version fits dolls with a 10.5” waist, and instructions are included for fitting the pattern to your doll if she has a smaller waist measurement. The elasticized version will fit dolls with waist measurements larger than 10.5”.
A bonus top pattern is included to complete the outfit.
Recommended Fabrics: For daywear suggested fabrics include: cotton or cotton-blend apparel fabrics such as poplin, percale, lawn, printed calico or quilter’s cottons. For formal wear this pattern can also be made from woven eveningwear fabrics such as duchess satin, charmeuse satin or bridal taffeta.
Supplies Needed:
- View A: Three toning or contrasting fat quarters (18” x 22”).
- View B: Half a yard of fabric.
- Either view: 3” hook and loop fastener tape (both sides), OR 10.5” of 3/8" elastic.
