The Colonial Elegance PDF Dress Pattern from Fashioned by Rebecca designed to fit 18 inch dolls such as American Girl® was inspired by the colonial fashion era. The pattern has been updated and the pieces have been "tweaked" for a better fit and a more enjoyable sewing experience.
The pattern is for a two piece ensemble, consisting of the lined bodice and the fully lined skirt. The first piece, the bodice is lined for a professional looking finish. It has ten tiny eyelets and a criss-crossing ribbon tie. The ruffle on the collar and sleeves are gathered. The top bodice closes in the back with hook and loop tape. The second piece is the skirt: it is gathered all around. Encased in the skirt waistband is elastic, making it easy to put on your doll.

Supplies Needed:
- 1/2 yard each main fabric and lining fabric (woven cotton)
- 9" x 18" fabric piece of contrast fabric
- 8-1/2" elastic (1/4" wide)
- 1/8" eyelets (10x) and eyelet setter
- 24" ribbon (1/8" wide)
- ultra lightweight fusible interfacing (optional)
- small safety pin (to insert elastic into waistband)
- hook and loop tape and thread
- iron and pressing tools
- matching thread
Skill Level: Intermediate. Knowledge of sewing straight seams, sewing curves, and gathering/pleating required. Some hand sewing is required to finish the dress.
