Inspired by “Heidi™,” the “Chalet School™” books, and my love of mountains, this adorable pattern allows your doll to visit the alps too. Alternatively, take a different twist and you have an outfit for your doll working around the house or creating craft projects. Take it a step further by removing the apron and scarf, and you have a beautiful pinafore over a smart blouse, which is just perfect for an outing to town or a visit to the relatives.
The “Tyrol” outfit, by Karen Lorraine Design, consists of a crisp, unlined blouse (with optional collar) and a trendy pinafore. Both pieces have easy-to-open back closures of hook and loop tape or snap fasteners. The clean-cut apron adds versatility to the pattern, while the bonus headscarf has extra-long ties to allow for easy securing. There is also a special section in this pattern demonstrating the ribboned variation of the pinafore.
This PDF sewing pattern is designed to fit 14-14.5" dolls such as Hearts for Hearts Girls® and WellieWishers™ . It's also available for 13" dolls such as Corolle® Les Cheries.
Recommended Fabrics: Woven cottons like quilting cotton, lawn, voile, broadcloth
Supplies Needed:
- “Fabric One” for blouse 36" (wide) x 8" (deep), cotton fabrics like lawn, broadcloth, quilting cotton
- “Fabric Two” for pinafore and scarf 44" (wide) x 12" (deep), cotton fabrics like quilting cotton
- “Fabric Three” for apron 24" (wide) x 11" deep, cotton fabrics like voile, lawn, or quilting cotton.
- Matching or contrasting thread
- Closures like hook and loop tape or snap fasteners
- Optional: Bias binding at 1" wide by 9" long. I have self-made my bias binding from the measurements included in the Fabric One measurements.
- Optional: Ribbons if making the Ribboned Variation Pinafore; for example, a jacquard flower trim of about 34" long by ¼ - ½" deep, or a velvet ribbon, other trim, etc.
