I want to learn couture techniques so I may continue making doll clothes for the Salvation Army Toy Shop Auxiliary in Cincinnati, Ohio. We have many volunteers like myself who turn out pretty little 18" doll clothes and dress an 18" doll and give it to a needy child each Christmas. I’ve been volunteering my time for 10 years and each year I try to make my outfits even prettier than the last.

I want to learn couture techniques because I have never had a sewing lesson. I taught myself to sew at the age of 10 and have learned everything from studying the directions and practicing. I read your explanation of the course because I didn’t even know what couture meant. It would amazing to learn how to apply the proper techniques to my doll clothes.

I want to learn couture techniques because I have been sewing for 40 years and never took a class in garment sewing I taught myself to sew using the only book available at the time POWER SEWING by Sandra Betzina. I think it will inhance my skill set and I think you are never too good or old to learn new technics

I want to learn couture techniques because although I have sewn for many, many years I have never broken the glass ceiling around haute couture techniques. I have so many “coffee” table books on these beautiful designs and fashions and would love to take my skills to the next level through creating patterns and clothing for dolls and eventually even transferring these skills to clothing for young girls (to match their dolls of course!)
My aspiration would be to reacquaint people to the textile arts through a common bond of love for fashion that is handmade, high quality and beautiful. Having unique construction techniques and/or embellishments, whether elaborate or simple, just makes the finished pattern or product so much stronger and pleasing to the eye. Learning couture techniques is part of the cycle of building on a strong foundation and really bringing out the inspiration of the individual designer. This class would present an opportunity to be creative with my skills and to share it with others.

I would like to learn more about couture techniques and other French words to improve my sewing of doll clothes to "heirloom’ quality. No grandchildren yet, but I have my (sewing & knitting) fingers crossed. I also believe in making my own luck, so I have a “gramma’s hope chest” where I put away any baby items I have made while the eyes and fingers still have it (don’t tell my grown up children about this :-) Meanwhile, my niece’s AG dolls are very well dressed with the clothes I sewed for them, but being the fashionistas that they are, they look forward to MORE!!!! I love new and,creative ways for creating doll clothes. I am especially interested in converting how to get away from Velcro closers. The children that we make the special off its for should be able to tie ,button or, use a zipper.

I have two family members with Special need children. I use the patterns I purchase here and get free to make clothes for their dolls. If I could learn the couture techniques I would hopely be able to make more professional looking clothes that I could sale and give the funds to my family memebers to help towards the child care for these lovely special children.

After Phoebe’s hair had been chopped off by her original owner, nobody wanted her until Katy, my grandniece, paid $7 to give Phoebe a loving home. I volunteered one outfit each month to raise Phoebe’s spirits. Lessons in couture techniques would send Phoebe over the moon in her gorgeous outfits! I want to learn couture sewing techniques because every time I sew a new outfit for a doll, I remember the wonder I felt standing beside an “adopted” grandmother as she sewed special things for me using newspaper patterns, with beautiful details in spite of having no formal training. It is her memory that planted in me a love for sewing and a love for giving the gifts of my hand to little ones whose eyes and smiles light up a room in surprise. Every time I learn a new skill and then share it with someone, I am reminded “Mother Brown would be so proud!”
