The most important feature on the pattern, aside from clear instructions, are the photos that the pixie faire patterns include. Sometimes I just can’t quite understand the verbiage or something in the instructions.
The most important feature of a pattern is photos.
Sometimes the written instructions can be confusing if someone is not familiar with a technique.
The most important\useful feature or element in a pattern is directions with clear and concise wording, and pictures that match what is being said. I hate it when a pattern tells me to do something in a certain order, but the pictures show that it was done a different way.
The most important/useful features or element in a pattern is to have photo illustrations along with written instructions as I am a very visual learner.
I’ve used your patterns starting with Liberty Jane in 2013 and have sewn for decades.
Here are a few things, most already mentioned
Close up photos of both front and back. Individual pieces labeled with pattern name
Contrasting background in photos. Clearly different fabrics for linings. Photos that clearly show right side from wrong side. Instructions that include *special note- for directions that differ from usual sewing process.
I appreciate the pattern updates that include corrections, clearer explanations or better photos. Pixie Faire, you are a wonderful site and a great organization. So proud of your Sew Powerful ministry providing opportunities for us to help by making purses for girls in Africa. God Bless
The most important\useful feature or element in a pattern is the armscye pattern piece. As I have sewn for 50 years the only piece I can’t figure out accurately is that piece. Most people here have suggested the instructions are the most important and they probably are, but for me personally I sew it the way I want to most times and don’t use the instructions.
The most useful feature in a pattern is that it is saved in my account at Pixie Faire, so I can download it again if need be.
The most important feature or element in a pattern is clear, concise instructions
The most important\useful feature or element in a pattern is clear instructions that don’t assume I know what to do.
I feel that fit is the most important part of a pattern. So frustrating to go to a lot of work and then it doesn’t come close to fitting.
The most useful feature/element in a pattern are clear, concise instructions with photos of specific construction parts
The most useful feature/element in a pattern are clear, concise instructions with photos of specific construction parts
The most useful/feature or element I feel is good instructions along with great illustrations, once in a while I have a brain fart
The most important / useful feature or element in a pattern are the VERY CLEAR ,step-by-step- description and photographs necessary to show EXACTLY what is needed for each step of the construction. The photographs should show clearly the right and wrong side of the garment and no knowledge on the part of the sewer should ever be assumed!.
“The most important\useful features or elements in a pattern are good photos and clear, concise instructions.
What is important about a pattern is the instructions. The picture is what influences my purchase but no matter how attractive the garment I want the process of making it to be hassle free.
The most important\useful feature or element in a pattern is clear instructions with pictures and/or video for tricky bits.
The most important part of the pattern after the test square is lighting in the photos – black is not helpful – any colour is better than black. Fit is critical. I really like detailed photos with clear instructions, seam allowance clearly marked, details marked on the pattern. Finished item photo of the front and back is really helpful. It is a real treat to have options included: velcro, zipper, buttons. I like using velcro with buttons sewn on top to add the look, but not the difficulty. Arthritic hands struggle much the same as small children’s hands. I love PDF patterns.
The most important thing in a pattern is a clear picture accompanied by good instructions.

The instructions are understandable is the most important thing to me.
Joan
Important parts of a pattern to me are clear instructions and pictures of examples in various stages. When instructions are poor, or are missing parts, I feel like I have wasted my money.
The most important thing is having clear instructions with good pictures.
The more details a pattern has the better. Pictures are super helpful.
My favorite things about PDF patterns: They always print out the same size [there isn’t much wiggle room in doll clothes,] AND if I loose a piece-facings, tiny collar or cuff-it’s inside my computer and I can reprint it.
The most important parts of a pattern for me are clear pictures to accompany simple to understand directions. Photographs are very helpful as well.
The most important feature of a pattern for me is the info on the pieces (seam allowance, name, designer, and any other pertinent info).
The most important part of a pattern after the instructions is clear markings on the pattern.
The most important feature in a pattern is clear instructions & pictures thru end of project
The most important\useful feature or element in a pattern is pictures to go with the instructions, if at all possible. Sometimes when I have trouble understanding what the instructions are asking me to do, a simple sketch of the process clarifies everything!
I like clear instructions with pictures
The most important part of a pattern is the illustrations!
The most important part of a pattern are good clear instructions preferably with accompanying pictures.
The most important feature in a pattern is clear instructions and pictures really do help.
The most important/ useful thing in a pattern is (what almost everybody else has said) clear instructions and pictures!
The most important thing with a pattern is clear, easy to follow instructions.
The most important feature in a pattern would be the picture. I feel like another tip for sewing and without a pattern would be looking at an actual piece of the product.
The most important element in a pattern would be the pattern pieces (drafted to fit) themselves. Without them you would not even have a project to make in the first place.
The most important part of a pattern are clear, concise instructions with clear, well lit photos.
The most important/useful feature is detailed instructions so we can all be able to follow, independently of sewing skills or level. Good pictures are a must with well done pattern pieces
The most important\useful feature or element in a pattern is accurate pattern with seam allowances.
The most important elements in a pattern are complete understandable instructions with accompanying photos. Tips, tricks and finished measurements of garment sections are also appreciated just so I know I am doing everything right and my garment will turn out right.
The most important feature in a pattern is good instructions
The most important/useful feature or element of a pattern is clear instructions with pictures
The most important feature of a pattern is definitions. Most of us are not experienced sewers yet and it helps to have definitions and pictures for technical terms.
The most important\useful feature or element in a pattern is accurate, easy to understand instructions to include illustrations/examples. If talking specifically about the pattern pieces, then necessary markings, i.e., grain lines.
The most important part of a pattern for me is pictures. I am very visual and the pictures Help.
The most useful element in a pattern is clear instructions!
The most important\useful feature or element in a pattern are directions especially with pictures.
The most important feature of a pattern are the markings for matching pieces.
the most important feature of a patter is the accuracy of the pattern pieces. It gets frustrating when pieces don’t go together like they should. As far as the useful part…I have always looked at the illustrations before actually reading the instructions.
“The most important\useful feature or element in a pattern is size. I have a whole assortment of doll clothes that are just a little too tight or something similar.
The most useful element in a pattern is clear instructions!
The most important/useful feature of a pattern is that the instructions match the pattern pieces. Consistency is key. I prefer to not have to use guesswork when assembling an item.
Most important part of the pattern is accuracy. The pieces must fit together easily, without the sewer having to “fudge” it.
The most important feature about a pattern is a set of clear and precise directions written by someone who it is obvious knows how to sew, not someone that you wonder after every step “where did this person learn to sew and what are they talking about?”
The most important feature of a pattern is The test square.
The most important\useful feature or element in a pattern is clear and easy to understand instructions. Nothing is more frustrating than starting a pattern and wondering what the heck the designer meant by a particular step of the instructions. Close-up photos for some of the trickier parts is nice to have too.
The most important part of a PDF pattern is that it actually PRINT! I have had so much difficulty in getting the entire thing to print, that I am hesitant to purchase more. I love the selection that Pixie faire offers, and have purchased many, but it is extremely frustrating. The patterns themselves are good, clearly marked and instructions are clear.
The most important/useful feature of a pattern is clear instructions.
The most important part of a pattern are clear pictures with each step!
The most important \ useful feature or element in a pattern is……
It looks like I have to agree with just about everyone else — clearly written instructions and good pictures / illustrations, especially for the tricky parts.
AND, finished size measurements written on the pattern pieces, in case adjustments are needed.
The most important\useful feature or element in a pattern is other than the pattern pieces themselves, clear directions. Also teaching new techniques needed for that pattern.
The most important element of a pattern is that the pieces fit together correctly, and that the instructions make sense and are in the correct order and that if it’s an unusual or novel way to do something that it’s illustrated.
The most important part of a pattern is clear, detailed instructions. Sometimes a picture does help.(Actually, the most important parts of the pattern are the pattern pieces, that I inevidently misplace.)
The most important element of a pattern is FIT! If the end result doesn’t fit properly the pictures and instructions mean nothing! Unfortunately there is no consistency in pattern sizing. I am often disappointed at how large the finished garment is and feel I have wasted my time and money. Do the pattern designers take fit into consideration? If a waist on the doll measures 6 inches 8 inches on the pattern is NOT acceptable. I do not know how nor do I feel I should have to alter a pattern.
Sometimes the most important part in a pattern, are the pictures.
The most important part of a pattern to me are detailed instructions with pictures.
The most useful element of a pattern are the examples from the testers of the pattern. Their ideas can really get my imagination going.
The most important\useful feature or element in a pattern is clear and correct instructions!
it is so frustrating for instructions not to be correct or confusing. I enjoy patterns that have all the information you need.
The most important feature of a pattern is the instructions that has step by step information on putting the pattern pieces together and also accurate sized patterns.
The most important part of a pattern is clear instruction with pictures. A good tip is to list doll measurements in the description of the pattern. Many times I want to use the pattern for a different doll but don’t want to buy unless I have this information first.
The most important element of a pattern is that pieces fit together properly.
The most important\useful feature or element in a pattern are clear instructions and pictures that show the details in a contrasting color for easy viewing. For doll size patterns specifically I would like to see resource lists for items that are unique to such a small outfit. Especially important for historical patterns.
The most important part of a pattern is the directions and hopefully pictures showing how to make the pattern.
The most important\useful feature or element in a pattern is clear instructions and good illustrations.
The most important/useful feature or element in a pattern is clear, concise written instructions and illustrations to match.
That the pattern pieces truly fit & that there are good instructions. The pictures on digital patterns are also helpful.
The most important\useful feature or element in a pattern is contrast; if the fabric selected for the photo shoot looks almost the same on the right and wrong sides, or the lining is the same color, it is very difficult to follow complicated directions or construction techniques. I had trouble with some steps in the Surfrider Sundress pattern for this reason.
the most important, useful feature in a pattern is the combination of clear, precise instructions with accompanying photo, clearly noted for which set of instructions the photo goes with.
The most important is visual/photo instructions.
The most important & useful feature or element in a pattern is proper fitting pattern pieces, then clear instructions. Photos are also great especially for difficult steps.
The most important or useful feature or element in a pattern is complete concise instructions with related photos. Fabric recommendations, tips and tricks are also well appreciated.
The most important element of a pattern are clear step by step instructions.
The most important thing in a pattern is clear, detailed instructions with good pictures alongside.
The most important\useful feature or element in a pattern is simple sequenced written directions with clear photos.
The most useful element of a pattern for me is clear pictures and instructions that go with each photo. For instance, I like the way Buzzin Bea lays hers out.
The most useful features in a pattern for me are pictures to go with instructions. I like to see and read how to construct a pattern. One alone is not enough.
The most important\useful feature or element in a pattern is:
1. FIT – Many patterns are on the stingy side of fit. With some patterns one has to keep one’s fingers crossed that the garment will fit.
2. CENTER BACK LINE – All patterns should include the CENTER BACK line. I fine 1/4” + 1/4” overlap for button holes is not enough. It would also give the sewer a guide if substituting a zipper. All patterns should include a photo of the finished back of the garment in the presentation.
3. FACINGS – I’m surprised how many patterns ignore the finished look of the facings.
The most important part of the pattern is good concise directions with good pictures.
Most important element are the pictures accompanying each step of the instructions. No matter how clear the instructions may seem to the writer, they might still be confusing to the reader.
The most important feature of a pattern is detailed, clear instructions. Patterns from pixiefare are great
… the instructions, with pictures.
The most important /useful features in a pattern are clear instructions and pictures that show the details in a contrasting color for easy viewing. For doll size patterns specifically I would like to see resource lists for items that are unique to such a small outfit. Especially important for historical patterns. Cinnamon has given us resources for finding unique and small print fabrics. And I just ordered mini size overall buckles and narrow FOE from Home Sew thanks to this give-away. But, where do you find tiny military type buttons or tiny cameos? Or narrow cotton lace? These details really make the outfit.
The most important feature of a pattern’s written directions is that they are clear, concise, and relevant tips are marked as tips. It is important that in the photos the fabric right side and wrong side are clearly different and overall, relevant seam and matching points are clearly marked. I’m sure I’m not the only one who has used the old, totally unmarked, tissue patterns. Those were an adventure!
