I’m descended from Scottish & Native American but our family has been in the hills so long that much has been lost & even hidden. A family tradition I like is the making of sorghum / molasses.
A favorite cultural tradition I take part in or find interesting is eating pork and sauer kraut for New Year’s day for luck. My Mom was German Irish so both the highland outfits and the New Years dinner fit in so nicely today!

I would like to see a Welsh costume.We hold 2 “Eisteddfodau” a year in Wales where we gather to enjoy our language and culture. The youth eisteddfod is always held at Whitsun and the National is held in August. We also host an International Eisteddfod every year where countries from all over the world take part in competitions and celebrate their culture.
A favorite cultural tradition I take part in is my Croatian husbands tradition to not meat on Christmas Eve or Good Friday. We only eat fish or seafood. It is delicious!
The cultural tradition we follow are mostly those of Scotland and Ireland, as we have ancestors from both . My favorite is making shortbread from my great-grandmother’s recipe at Christmas to share with friends and family.

A favorite cultural tradition I take part in or find interesting is the cooking of the goose for Christmas dinner. This is a newer tradition for us. We melded families from The USA and The Netherlands and this one is from neither. It is just us :) A cultural pattern I would like to see offered at Pixie Faire would be Native American dress specifically from the NW and also Eskimo dress.
I love watching my daughter and grand daughter competing in highland dancing. Scottish blood in their genes. Granddaughter takes her cabbage patch dolls as mascots dressed in their highland outfits. My favourite is the jig outfit.

A culture I find interesting is the Irish culture historically. I’d like to see patterns of traditional clothing of both the rich, and the struggling financially.
One of my favorite cultural traditions is attending Iridh Dance Feis with my children. They are learning traditional Irish dances and compete against other students. I would love to see some more patterns for some of the dresses and vest/jackets these kids wear.
A cultural tradition our family continues each year is to attend the St.Patrick’s Day Parade in our city, and take part in all the fun activities that our offered afterwards!!!

She enjoys dressing like her doll,so I was surprised and overjoyed to see this pattern! Winning 2 completed outfits would be so wonderful! I love the highlander since I am Irish and Scottish and English. My Godson had a bagpipe player with the red plaid kilt. Very nice.

My family doesn’t have many special cultural traditions as we are a mis mash of cultures. We have a special cake we make at Christmas time and that is about it. I would like to see Scottish outfits. I have been fascinated with that culture since reading the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldin.
A cultural tradition we take part in is annual Highland games. My husband is a bagpiper and I am a former bass drum player in a pipe band. I would so love to win the outfits. A favorite cultural tradition I find interesting is Scottish. I enjoy watching the River Dancing. It started in Jr. High when I was in a school play, “The Highlanders”. I would like to see Indian cultural patterns. My great grandmother was Indian.

A favorite cultural tradition I take part in or find interesting is……the sharing of Oplatek (pronounced oh-pwat-key) It’s a Polish Christmas tradition from my mother’s side of the family. You break a special unleavened wafer with your family on Christmas Eve or Day, wishing them all health and good fortune. A cultural pattern I would like to see offered at Pixie Faire would be a Polish dress to polka by. :)
A favorite cultural tradition tradition I take part in is at Christmas &/or New Year’s Eve we make French Tourtiere recipe, or a French pork pie. My husband’s father was from Lorraine France and his family brought the recipe and it was favorite holiday treat and it still is to this day.

A cultural tradition I find interesting and hope to celebrate with my daughter someday is St. Lucia Day as celebrated in Sweden. I am also fascinated with Japanese and British culture. I would love to see a traditional Welsh costume pattern and traditional kimono and yukata patterns offered. Traditional Muskogee clothing would be amazing too! I’d love to be able to dress my dolls like my ancestors.
A favorite cultural tradition I take part in or find interesting is the British tradition of Christmas crackers. I am an American living in England so the idea of a Christmas cracker was new to us. We’ve embraced it and may take it back home with us one day when we move back.

Such beautiful outfits. I live near Boone, NC which hosts the Highland Games every summer. I was actually born in Prestwick, Scotland while my dad was stationed at the USAF Base there in 1957. I like Ericka’s Idea of a Traditional Japanese Kimono as dad was also stationed in Japan after WWII. Mom went with him and used to dress up in different cultural outfits of places they had traveled and come to my 2nd grade class. Such memories!

A favorite custom I find interesting is the Eastern European art of patterning eggs with a succession of dye materials. I first learned about it in Kate Seredy’s book “The Good Master” when I was young. I would love for Pixie Faire to offer patterns for the traditional Hungarian costumes Seredy illustrated in her book. Pleats and embroidery!

A favorite cultural tradition I take part in or find interesting is celebrating the Jewish Holidays. A cultural pattern I would like to see offered at Pixie Faire would be for tallit (Jewish prayer shawls).
A favorite tradition in our house was to travel with dinner. I would make a complete meal from another country and we would try to dress like the country as well. My kids have kids of their own and carry on the same tradition. My granddaughters would love to dress their dolls in These Highland outfits. One of these is a Mac Dougal. I tried to get a pattern from Nancy’s Notions a few years ago, but it was discontinued. It has several countries in the pattern. I would be great to see Asian, African, British, Eastern European etc. in collections.
A favourite cultural tradition I enjoy involves the comfort food from my childhood….toutins (fried bread dough) and molasses for breakfast, fish and chips with dressing ( summer savory being the essential ingredient) and gravy for lunch. Impossible to find a pattern on Pixie Faire (or anywhere else) for these.

I am 83 years old and have been sewing Barbie clothes for 56 years. Now I sew Barbie and American Girl and American Boy doll clothes for Great Granddaughters. I know I will never get to Scotland but that is our heritage. According to a cousin, who has been there, we even have our own plaid and he has the full dress kilts.I would be very excited to sew at least 6 Scottish outfits. More girls and boys on the way. Our family is Bohemian and we all especially like Kolachys at holiday times. This year all the grandchildren have been working with me and learning about baking those and other of their Great great Grandmother’s recipes.

Both my hubby’s family and my family are close descendants of Native American Indians and I would love to see patterns for both Native Indians and Frontiersman.
