Swirly Pants 18" Doll Clothes Pattern

3 reviews   |

Does your doll want to strut her stuff at the school disco? Or will she want to dance the night away at the big festival in the park? What about an evening playing in the band with her friends? Whatever your doll decides to do while she is wearing her swirly pants, you can be sure she is having fun as a fully paid-up member of the groovy crowd.

These swirly pants, by Genniewren Designs, definitely have a 70s vibe. The flared pants are cleverly cut so that the fabric swirls around the legs, finishing in a flared bell-bottom end, while still fitting properly at the hip and knees. There’s a choice of pockets or no pockets and the pants also have a fly front that fastens with a strip of hook and loop tape . The narrow waistband fastens with a snap and is elasticized in the back to give the perfect fit.

You can make the Swirly Pants in two or more colors and in solids, prints, plaids, spots or plains. Three cutting layouts are provided: for two-color symmetrical and asymmetrical versions, and a four-color version. You could have each piece in a completely different fabric if you really want to drown in that Woodstock era hippy-style patchwork boho feeling. The choice is yours.

For ease of construction the Swirly Pants are sewn together using the flat method, right up until the very last seam which is only slightly twisted.

These swirly pants are the perfect partner to the Flossie Potter 1970s Body Suit.

This PDF sewing pattern is designed to fit 18" dolls such as American Girl®.

Recommended Fabrics: This pattern is designed for woven fabrics such as cotton poplin, quilters cottons, broadcloth, lightweight denim, cotton drill or linen/cotton blends. Heavy weight (jeans-style) denim is not suitable as it is too bulky.
